Once upon a time, people were happy using the same password everywhere, and had no desire to give private companies their fingerprints or other biometric traits. Thankfully now we're all a lot more comfortable with technology, and we use biometrics every day just to unlock our phones.
A lot of work had to go on behind the scenes to make this happen, and there's a lot of work still left to be done to make sure payment credentials are secure. People still have their favorite passwords, and even with all of this progress the old habits remain very hard to break.
