Zapper Adds PayPal's One Touch to 'No Terminal' Payments

Contactless payment company Zapper is integrating PayPal's One Touch to power faster execution for contactless transactions.

Consumers are now able to pay using their PayPal account through the Zapper app. Zapper's mobile platform allows consumers to pay at table without relying on a card terminal. The company prints a QR code on each bill, which a consumer can then scan to pay in-app. Zapper has 70,000 active users and more than 1,000 restaurant partners.

One Touch allows consumers to pay without user IDs and passwords after they log in once. The technology is used in Venmo, a social payments platform that PayPal acquired when it purchased Braintree, and includes tools that are transferrable to other types of digital payments.

PayPal also recently updated One Touch to make it available in more payment channels.

"PayPal has over 20 million active account s in the UK and this exciting new partnership is testimony to Zapper’s growth to date and our united aim to provide simple transactions throughout many verticals," Zapper UK chief executive Gerry Hooper said in a press release. "It’s a priority for us to be able to offer our Zapper users a variety of trusted payment options depending on their preferences to ensure a swift and snappy dining experience."
