WEX wins Chevron, Texaco fleet card contract

WEX Inc. will issue Chevron U.S.A.’s fleet cards, including all Chevron and Texaco cards for commercial fleets, beginning in early 2018, the companies have announced.

WEX will manage fleet card distribution and related payment services for Chevron and Texaco cards through its WEX Bank unit, and work with Chevron Products Co. to develop a comprehensive sales and marketing program promoting Chevron and Texaco fleet cards at the company’s 8,000 gasoline outlets in the U.S. and Canada, Chevron said in a Dec. 19 press release.

FleetCor Technologies currently issues Chevron's fleet cards. FleetCor bought Comdata two years ago, as competition and improved technology drive changes in the fleet card sector.

"Supporting our customers through our agreement with WEX further confirms our commitment to offering innovative payment solutions that bring ongoing benefits to this valued network,” said Glenn Johnson, Chevron’s general manager of marketing and sales and services for the Americas, said in the release.

WEX in October announced a 10-year deal to continue issuing ExxonMobil fleet cards in North America. WEX provides fleet card services for more than 10 million vehicles with offices in the U.S., Asia, Europe, Brazil, Australia and New Zealand, the company added.
