Wex to Provide Virtual Card Services to Globalia Travel Clients

Wex Inc. will provide clients of Globalia, a travel services provider in Europe, with the Wex Travel Solution virtual payment options.

The Wex Travel product provides businesses with single-use virtual cards for travel booking. Wex says the product increases efficiency and reduces costs by streamlining payment reconciliation, earning revenue on processed payments and seamlessly integrating with existing high-volume systems.

"The Wex virtual solution offers us a flexible, secure and efficient payment system for our providers," says Miguel Angel Sanchez, chief financial officer at Globalia, in a June 3 press release. "Working with Wex allows us to further enhance our core business activities, while we continue to develop the services and tools for major partners."

CorporatePay Ltd., a company Wex acquired last year, will manage European relationships such as Globalia.

Expanding its virtual card program globally is a key strategy for Wex for the rest of 2013 and beyond. The company has moved into Australia, Brazil and the U.K. recently.

At the beginning of May, Wex announced Melissa Smith, a 16-year employee, would succeed current CEO Michael Dubyak. Smith was president of the Americas, but she also took an interim role on the international side of the business.

Wex, formerly Wright Express Corp., is a provider of corporate payment products and services.
