Visa showcased
At the site of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, Visa demonstrated payments approaches in development at its global innovation labs, including remote digital ticket purchase, biometric authentication for stadium entry and streamlined on-site retail shopping, according to a Friday press release.
Visa also showcased a method that will enable viewers to purchase Olympic gear directly from a television screen during the event’s broadcast. The concept is an improvement on a previous approach used during the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, where viewers could buy Team USA gear by going through a website, a Visa spokesperson said.
Some of the payments technologies showcased today will be used at the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020, Visa said in the release.
