Transaction Network Services (TNS) will use Inetco Insight to monitor TNS' ACI Postilion payment processing environment to spot potential performance glitches.
TNS, which provides payment processing in more than 60 countries, will use Inetco's Insight product to view transactions running through ACI Postilion switches and issue instant notification when transactions slow down, time out or fail. TNS performs this monitoring by examining complete payment transaction chains on a "hop by hop" basis. A "hop" is the trip a data packet takes between routers.
The payments chain is being complicated by the combination of electronic and mobile commerce and payments, Inetco says.
"A lot of these processors have more moving parts to their environment than they used to as payments systems modernize and accept new payment types," says Marc Borbas, a vice president at Inetco. "A transaction doesn't have just one piece anymore."
TNS is Inetco's first U.K.-based client to deploy Inetco Insight. "Inetco helps us to focus on our core services and support our clients' growth to help them increase their productivity," said Ciaran Jones, vice president of operations for TNC, in a Sept. 10 press release.
Adquira, a processing subsidiary of BBVA Bancomer and Telefonica Movistar, is also
The TNS deployment is a bit different in that TNS is not using a public cloud, says Borbas, though he says Inetco Insight works the same way in a cloud and non-cloud environment.
"We're still pulling the network traffic data in a non-invasive way to perform an analysis," says Borbas, adding cloud-delivered payments processing is still early-stage, with most adopters using private or single-tenant clouds.

Companies that sell multiple technology products in the ATM marketsuch as Diebold and NCRand the large core banking providers, such as FIS, Fiserv and Jack Henry, also offer services that can track transactions to spot processing or latency glitches, says Ed O'Brien, director of the banking channels advisory service at Mercator Advisory Group
"As we head from a multi-channel environment to more of an 'omnichannel' environment, there will be more systems in place," O'Brien says of the trends toward retailers and payment companies offering a number of channels to execute payments, or to shop in one channel or pay in another. It's
"In such an environment, there are going to be more points of entry and exits," O'Brien says.
