Thailand bank to issue JCB rewards card for young adults

Thailand’s Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) is launching its first credit card through Japan’s expanding JCB card network, targeting young adults who like to travel throughout Asia.

Designed for consumers new to the job market, SCB’s JCB card offers instant approval through the bank’s app, with the opportunity to earn 3 percent cash back on all purchases, according to a Thursday press release.

Additional perks include discounts on Grab rides to Thailand airports, discounts at some regional shops and restaurants, discounted Wi-Fi access in Japan and free access to JCB airport lounges in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Hawaii and Shanghai, the release said.

The move supports JCB’s goal of expanding its reach throughout Asia by tapping emerging audiences.

“In recent years JCB has been focusing on expanding business for Thai people in this market,” said Kimihisa Imada, JCB’s president and chief operating officer, in the release.
