Square Adds Scheduling to Invoicing Service

Square, which has been aggressively adding merchant services to enhance its mobile payments product, has added an invoice scheduling feature to add flexibility to merchant payments.

The upgrade to Square Invoice would let merchants control when they pay invoices and when clients receive them, Square said in a release.

Square Invoices, which launched in 2014, allows merchants to send invoices from the Square mobile app, which clients can pay by entering their card information directly into the app.

The payments technology company has processed more than $2 billion in paid invoices since it released the invoicing function, it said in the release, and the number of sellers using the invoicing software has more than doubled in the last year.

PayPal similarly updated its own invoicing service last year, as payment processors look to extend their business to cover an array of merchant services and see invoicing platforms as a way to give them a fuller view of their revenue.
