Square is extending the technology it makes available to third parties to enable its sellers to offer digital sales and marketing.
The payment company unveiled the new tools Friday at its developer conference, Square Unboxed. Snippets API, which is the first API that Square put on top of its Square Online platform, allows merchants to create online experiences such as digital content.
Snippets API can combine with other Square APIs to enable add sales, marketing and loyalty programs that Square contends can increase conversion rates.
Square used Fomo, a social marketing platform, as an example, saying it uses Snippets API and Square Online to improve its ability to display customer interaction notifications on purchase, reviews and live traffic.
During its developer conference, Square focused on omnichannel payments as an area of potential. The payment company reported Square Online has boosted its active seller based 200% each quarter since the beginning of 2020.
