Samsung Pay to get a buy button in Visa Checkout

Samsung Pay will join the online payment options for Visa Checkout users through a new partnership between the South Korean company and U.S.-based Visa, underscoring the fluidity of mobile wallets.

Consumers with fingerprint authentication-enabled Samsung devices will be able to use a new Visa Checkout/Samsung Pay button on websites that support Visa’s streamlined checkout service beginning later this year, Samsung said in a Thursday press release. The company did not specify a date when the integration will go live.

“We are very excited to be working with Visa to offer simple, fast and secure checkout experiences to millions of Samsung Pay users on their mobile devices or desktop,” said Injong Rhee, Samsung’s chief technology officer for the mobile communications business at Seoul-based Samsung Electronics, in the release.

Visa Checkout, launched in 2014 as a successor to the card brand's V.me wallet, enables users to make payments on participating websites with just a few clicks.

Google has previously said it planned to integrate digital wallets from Visa and Mastercard within Android Pay.
