Samsung Electronics has entered a commercial software license and distribution agreement with fingerprint software company Precise Biometrics.
Samsung's large-scale integration business unit plans to use the Swedish company's BioMatch Mobile solution for fingerprint recognition in mobile phones and tablets, which will "provide the best user experience and security of their fingerprint solutions, as they enter the market for fingerprint sensors," Håkan Persson, chief executive of Precise Biometrics, said in a Nov. 8 news release.
The agreement with Samsung's large-scale system integration business includes an annual fee for support and maintenance and a per-unit license fee, which is volume dependent and can't currently be forecasted, Precise Biometrics said in the release.
