Walmart’s warehouse unit Sam’s Club is introducing digital features and new rewards tiers to modernize its Synchrony-issued Mastercard.
The Sam’s Club Mastercard now operates in a mobile-first mode, enabling customers to apply for the card, shop online and in-store, check and pay balances and manage rewards within the Sam’s Club mobile app, the companies said in a press release. Synchrony first began working with Sam’s Club on its private-label credit card in 1993.
The overhaul includes new opportunities for Sam’s Club Mastercard users who have the card’s $100-a-year “Plus” membership, providing up to 5% back on all purchases at the warehouse club chain, the release said. The regular membership fee to shop at Sam’s Club is $45 a year.
All customers earn 5% back on gas, 3% back on dining and 1% back on all other purchases, including those who don’t pay an annual fee for the card. The Sam’s Club Mastercard is available only to warehouse club members.
