Major payment processors are lining up in support of
First Data Corp. says it will power in-store Android Pay transactions, following up on its previous relationship with Google Wallet, the predecessor to Android Pay.
"Google’s latest innovations in the digital wallet space with Android Pay further leverage and extend First Data’s mobile payments market leadership,” Barry McCarthy, executive vice president and head of network and security solutions at First Data, stated in a Sept. 16 press release.
First Data's independent debit Star Network will also accept Android Pay transactions.
Payments technology provider Total System Services Inc. (TSYS) also announced its support in expanding its enterprise tokenization software to process tokenized transactions from Android Pay.
TSYS deploys host card emulation software as part of its tokenization process, allowing payment card data to be stored in the cloud and transferred through a tap of the mobile device at the merchant terminal.
"TSYS will continue to make new digital payment solutions like Android Pay a priority as we strengthen our commitment to mobile payments and the freedom of choice and convenience they provide," Gaylon Jowers, senior executive vice president at TSYS, stated in a Sept. 16 release. "We are optimistic about the positive impact of Android Pay in the mobile payments market, and look forward to supporting all of our clients in their efforts to offer secure and convenient mobile payments for their customers."
