Montreal-based Pivotal Payments, which supplies all sizes of businesses with payment processing services, has named Edward Garcia to the new post of chief operating officer.

Garcia, who joined Pivotal last year as senior vice president of operations after stints in leadership positions at Vantiv and TSYS, is assuming leadership for Pivotal’s risk management, customer retention and contact center, the company said in a Dec. 19 press release.

Garcia, a former U.S. Marine Corps intelligence analyst, has 25 years of experience working at large financial services and payments companies, where he drove efficiency by streamlining processes and driving organizational efficiency, said Philip Fayer, Pivotal’s president and chief executive officer, in the release.

“As a proven financial technology executive, Ed has the strategic vision and leadership to help us create a frictionless, easy and immediate customer experience,” Fayer added.
