PayByPhone launches Apple Pay for Vancouver drivers

Canada-based PayByPhone has enabled Apple Pay for drivers in Vancouver, where the parking payment provider keeps its headquarters.

Drivers can select Apple Pay within the PayByPhone app for on-street parking within the city, with additional locations and parking lots coming soon, PayByPhone said in a Feb. 21 press release.

“We always look for ways to improve the user experience and adding Apple Pay simply extends that sentiment,” said Kush Parikh, PayByPhone’s president and CEO, in the release.

PayByPhone, which launched in 2001, is available in 300 cities globally with its biggest installation in Paris, where it operates 155,000 parking spaces, according to the company.

Volkswagen Financial Services acquired PayByPhone late last year for an undisclosed sum. It was the second parking app company the automaker purchased within the last two years.
