Pax lands terminal deal with China UnionPay Merchant Services

Pax Global Technology has landed what it describes as a major deal to distribute its payment terminals to Chinese merchants through China UnionPay Merchant Services [UMS].

Considered one of the largest merchant acquirers in the world, UMS will make the entire Pax product portfolio available to more than six million merchants during 2017.

"The winning of this large UMS tender will further strengthen Pax's leading market position in China, as has been happening globally for the past couple of years," Yongqian Qui, vice president for China sales at PAX, stated in a Dec. 30 press release.

The deal in China comes just a day after PAX had secured a partnership with mobile wallet provider Ezetap in India to offer thousands of mobile and mini POS units.

In China, Pax expects UMS to emphasize its newest terminal, the A920 Android Smart Terminal, which it revealed just last month. All other Pax countertop POS terminal models and contactless PIN pads should also be in high demand in China, the company said.

A year ago, Pax began exploring options in Russia through an agreement to provide terminals for merchants working with Sberbank.
