Masabi Ltd. will provide its mobile ticketing service to commuters using rail lines on New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority system, the London-based transit payment provider says.
Riders on the Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road will be able to buy train tickets using their smartphones and then display a code on the phones screen to the conductor, Masabi says in a May 1 press release.

Customers can purchase electronic tickets for the rail lines through the Masabi application or on the company website, Masabi says.
The implementation of the Masabi JustRide ticketing system will occur over the next few months. The technology handles ticket payment, ticket display and validation, as well as a back-end infrastructure for security, ticket management, customer service, reporting and real-time analytics, Masabi says.
Through the JustRide app, riders can purchase single-ride tickets or packages for multiple rides, including weekly or monthly passes. Customers can pay for tickets with any debit or credit card. Masabi can send tickets as a bar code or as a graphic to be shown to the conductor, Masabi says.
