NCR Closes Acquisition of Retalix

NCR Corp. announced Feb. 6 that it has closed its purchase of Retalix Ltd., a retail software provider.

The acquisition, announced in November, was part of the ATM maker's ongoing transformation into a more diverse provider of software and services. NCR's purchase of the Israeli company complemented earlier purchases of uGenius Technology Inc. and Radiant Systems.

NCR paid $30 a share for Retalix, adding up to a value of about $650 million excluding fees.

"Retalix’s market-leading software, services capabilities, and exceptional talent are a strategic fit for NCR, and support our continued focus on a future driven by software, wrapped elegantly in hardware and services," said NCR Chairman and CEO, Bill Nuti, in a press release.

NCR, of Duluth, Ga., purchased uGenius in December for an undisclosed amount. UGenius' video software allows bank tellers to talk to customers remotely, and the two vendors have worked together on the development of a video ATM since 2011.
