Greece-based Viva Wallet will use its cloud-based processing services to enable JCB card acceptance within Greece and 11 additional countries in Europe beginning next year.
The agreement will expand JCB’s reach to merchants in the U.K., Romania, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain in 2020, accommodating in-store and online payments, plus JCB Contactless and 3D Secure transactions, the release said.
Greece received around 30 million visitors in 2017, making it one of the most visited countries in the world, so it’s imperative for JCB to have a presence in Greece as it extends its wider reach into Europe, said Tsuyoshi Notani, managing director for JCB International, in a press release.
Viva Wallet, founded in 2010, serves 31 countries in Europe, creating opportunity to reach additional markets.
