Tokyo-based payment card network JCB International is positioning itself for post-pandemic tourism growth by signing a deal with 3C Payments to expand payment acceptance in Europe, beginning in Spain.
The move will add JCB as a payment option at 85 hotels in Spain, with an eye to extending the Japanese card brand’s reach to other retail sectors and regions via 3C’s connections to hundreds of European hotels, restaurants and parking facilities that target tourists, according to a Tuesday press release.
“Spain is a key market for JCB’s expansion and this collaboration could be introduced to the other European markets, and we have chosen to partner with 3C because of its ability to provide broad-coverage payment solutions in the T&E sector across Europe,” said Tsuyoshi Notani, JCB’s managing director, in the release.
3C, founded in Luxembourg in 1988, this month was acquired by U.K.-based Planet Payment for an undisclosed sum, pending approval by the U.K.’s Financial Conduct Authority.
