Hypercom Strikes Terminal Deal With German Retail Chain

Hypercom Corp. has signed a deal with a German retail chain that will deploy 30,000 of its Artema Hybrid point-of-sale terminals over the next 30 months, the terminal maker announced Jan. 19.

Under the terms of the multimillion-dollar agreement, Hypercom has delivered an initial shipment of 10,000 systems to the REWE Group, which is based in Cologne.

“We selected Hypercom because they are a recognized and competent provider of payment systems,” Jens Siebenhaar, the managing director of REWE-Informations-Systeme GmbH, said in a press release.

In December, the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based terminal maker announced another deal with a German retailer, C&A Mode KG, which plans to deploy 2,700 Artema Hybrid terminals at more than 450 stores.
