U.S. payments consultancy FIME has added Discover's payment application specification (D-PAS) accreditation to the Pulse ATM network, allowing it to provide guidance and support services on EMV chip technology for acquirers and issuers unfamiliar with D-PAS.
D-PAS is EMV-compliant smart-card payment software for contact, contactless and mobile payments at Discover terminals and ATMs. San Jose, Calif.-based FIME says by adding the payment application service to Pulse, the company can now provide guidance for acquirers implementing EMV chip-enabled acceptance systems through all Discover products. It also provides the service for those using D-PAS on Discover Network and Diners Club International.

“Acquirers preparing to deploy chip-enabled terminals and ATMs on each of Discover’s networks are required to be compliant with D-PAS specifications,” Laurent Beuchotte, director at FIME, said in a Wednesday press release.
FIME provides pre-certification consulting and a range of test tools, certification services and training workshops for acquirers and direct-connect merchants. Pre-certification consulting provides test set-up, testing and fault diagnosis support, efficiently conducted on-site or remotely by EMV acquiring specialists.
FIME views its services as for acquirers to more quickly achieve EMV certification for their merchant clients.
“Discover continues to cultivate innovative solutions for better payment security by streamlining D-PAS deployment,” Ellie Smith, head of the chip center of excellence at Discover, said in the release. “With FIME’s expanded services, they are now able to better serve their clients, while supporting our ongoing efforts to advance D-PAS implementation globally.”
