Three Ethiopian banks reportedly plan to launch a network of ATMs and point-of-sale terminals. The financial institutions, Awash International Bank S.C., Nib International Bank S.C. and United Bank S.C., have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the network, according to press reports. The banks did not say when the network would begin operating. Bank spokespeople provided no immediate comment to CardLine Global. Offshoring 2.0, an Ethiopia-based information-technology firm, would manage the network, which the banks would call the Fettan ATM network. The network would include more than 140 ATMs and 340 POS terminals, reports said.
