Dave & Buster’s will introduce mobile payments technology to its self-service kiosks dispensing game cards at the North American restaurant chain that combines dining with video games and other entertainment.
Kiosks from Diebold Nixdorf will be installed in the chain’s 134 locations in the U.S. and Canada enabling consumers to use cash, cards or mobile payments to redeem coupons and load funds to Dave & Buster Power Cards for games located within the restaurant.
The Diebold hardware replaces legacy machines. In a pilot, customers using the new kiosks added significantly more funds to game cards, a Dave & Buster’s spokesperson said.
The new hardware is configured to solely dispense game cards; diners still must order and pay for food through restaurant servers. But Diebold, which is based in Dallas, said its 32-inch self-service kiosks may be adapted to support ordering and payment for food and other merchandise, and Dave & Buster’s is leaving that option open for the future.
“The new kiosk platform provides an improved user experience. We are excited about growing the new channels within the platform like food ordering and other self-service offerings,” J.P. Hurtado, Dave & Buster’s chief information officer, said in a press release Thursday.
