Cumberland Farms convenience stores in New England, the mid-Atlantic and Florida have begun offering Visa- and Discover-branded reloadable prepaid cards, card-program provider nFinanSe Inc. announced Sept. 14.
The cards sell for $3, and NFinanSe does not charge purchase-transaction fees. However, it does charge a monthly $2.95 maintenance fee, $2.95 for account reloads and $1.50 per ATM withdrawal. The ATM owner also might assess a surcharge fee.
The card features free payroll direct deposits, live customer service and phone text-message alerts with purchase and balance information after each transaction.
Palm Desert (Calif.) National Bank issues the cards.
Cumberland Farms Inc. operates 900 locations across 11 states.
