CoinTent, a San Francisco-based micropayments company, has released a product to enable media companies to sell individual articles to non-subscribers.
The service can work either with our without a paywall, and is designed with a one-click process geared towards readers who increasingly access content via their smartphones.
"Just as we've seen with music, movies, and game content, people are willing to pay for quality articles that they're interested in reading if the price is right and the purchase experience is simple," CoinTent chief executive Bradley Ross said in an April 20 news release.
The one-click purchasing will be available through an application programming interface (API) or WordPress plugin. CoinTent fees will vary based on the size of each transaction.
