Cellum, TransferTo collaborate on cross-border digital wallet strategies

TransferTo and Cellum, a leading international mobile wallet provider, have formed a strategic partnership enabling Cellum to expand its services by leveraging TransferTo’s cross-border payments network.

The collaboration will focus initially on expanding services for businesses using Cellum's services in Southeast Asia and the central and eastern regions of Europe, the companies said in a recent press release.

Singapore-based TransferTo has built a network connecting banks, mobile network operators, money transfer providers, merchants and grass-roots organizations to support cross-border mobile payments to and from emerging markets, now reaching more than 135 countries.

Hungary-based Cellum provides a white-label digital wallet for customers including banks, mobile network operators and large merchants, according to the release.

The move is part of TransferTo’s broader strategy to add more digital wallet providers across its network, said Peter De Caluwe, TransferTo’s CEO, in the release.

“Our strategic partnership with TransferTo strengthens our position as the one-stop mobile wallet provider of choice in Southeast Asia and beyond,” added Cellum CEO János Kóka.
