Cardtronics Inc. is deploying a series of NCR Corp.’s new SelfServ 14 ATM, billed as the world’s smallest cash machine, the ATM independent sales organization announced March 1.
The new SelfServ 14, about the size of a toaster oven, can run Aptra software, enabling customers to deploy software once across their entire network.
“Cardtronics was uniquely qualified to provide NCR with meaningful marketplace feedback as it worked to pack the features of larger SelfServ ATMs into a more compact and affordable model for off-premise deployments,” said Rick Updyke, president, Cardtronics U.S. group., the nation’s largest deployer of ATMs. “The NCR SelfServ 14 retains upscale functionalities such as screen advertising, enabling Cardtronics to deliver its value proposition to a wider audience of merchants.”
Cardtronics provides access to credit unions to its 53,000 U.S. ATMs through switches to the credit union-owned Co-op Financial Services and Credit Union 24, and offers surcharge free services to hundreds of credit unions through its Allpoint network.
The NCR SelfServ 14, about 420 square inches, features the same look and feel as NCR’s bigger SelfServ 16 and features up to three 2,000-note cassettes and a 10-inch color LCD display.
An Intel Core processor powers NCR’s Aptra software, ensuring the tiny ATM can run a range of software-driven value-added services, such as on-screen advertising and full motion graphics.
