Los Angeles-based California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) has upgraded its mobile app to consolidate payments and loyalty features, including the ability to order and pay at the table at the company’s 197 U.S. locations.
The new version of the CPK Pizza Dough Rewards app enables consumers to check into restaurants through the app, place orders for takeout or dining within the restaurant and pay within the app by linking a card, CPK said in a recent press release. The app also enables customers to calculate a tip, refer to past purchase history, and earn and track rewards.
Customers who download the app receive an immediate reward for signing up and afterward they may earn $5 in Pizza Dough Rewards for every $100 spent, along with the option to receive additional promotions and offers on their phone, according to the release.

CPK worked closely with Newton, Mass.-based Paytronix Systems Inc., which has developed loyalty programs for several restaurant chains, to develop the new app. Paytronix integrated its loyalty management program with CPK’s existing restaurant ordering and payment platforms, including NCR Aloha Cloud Connect and Aloha Table Service, according to a separate Paytronox press release.
According to Paytronix’s research, enabling consumers to pay their dining bill via their smartphone can shave an average of about 12 minutes off of the total experience, saving time for customers and improving restaurant efficiency, said Andrew Robbins, Paytronix’s president, in its release.
