BlueSnap Brings Payment Gateway to Voxy Language Learning Service

Online payment provider BlueSnap will provide its global payments gateway software to Voxy, a New York-based company that offers language-learning courses online and through smartphones.

Voxy says it has taught English to more than 2.5 million people around the world since launching its service in 2010.

Voxy has “tapped into the power of mobile and innovative technology to make language learning easy, effective and relevant,” Ralph Dangelmaier, CEO of BlueSnap, states in a press release.

Waltham, Mass.-based BlueSnap embraces the chance to work with educational technology companies by providing the checkout and payments systems, Dangelmaier says. It is especially helpful in countries that represent challenging markets for online payments, such as Brazil, he adds.

The agreement with Voxy comes only three months after BlueSnap began providing payment technology in various currencies for One Hour Translation, a document translation service.

BlueSnap provides online payment processing software in more than 180 countries, while accepting more than 60 currencies, the company says. Its software can also translate checkout pages in 28 different languages.

“We needed a global payments provider that could consolidate our existing offering, improve the success rates and give us the reporting and support we were struggling to find,” Manuel Morales, director of product management at Voxy, states in the release.

“BlueSnap’s global capabilities were a key requirement,” Morales adds. “We’ve already seen an improvement in our checkout process.”

Voxy says its current emphasis is on teaching English to those currently speaking only Spanish or Portuguese. The company intends to expand its services to other emerging markets.
