BlueSnap Adds Visa Checkout to Diversify Checkout Choices

Merchants using BlueSnap payments technology to power e-commerce and mobile checkout will have Visa Checkout as a payment option for customers.

Visa Checkout will be added to the Powered Buy Platform, which BlueSnap introduced late last year to enable merchants to offer various checkout experiences for customers from API integration to turnkey embedded options.

Visa replaced its V.me digital wallet with the Visa Checkout option for e-commerce merchants two years ago, promoting the service as a checkout with just a few clicks after initial registration, trimming an online purchase payment process from minutes to seconds.

Enrolled Visa Checkout customers completed 86% of transactions from an online shopping cart, BlueSnap stated in an Aug. 8 press release.

“We are thrilled to make Visa Checkout available in our platform to give our merchants the power to offer a frictionless online checkout experience for global, mobile shoppers," BlueSnap CEO Ralph Dangelmaier said in the release. "We think the wallets are critical for online merchants to capture the most mobile shoppers.”

BlueSnap says it has conducted research in the past that shows customers abandon purchases 30% of the time because the checkout process doesn't always allow them to use a payment method they prefer. Coupon codes or local language and currency barriers also factor into cart abandonment, the company said.

Powered Buy Platform provides coupons, subscription billing, fraud prevention and chargeback management tools. It also has global connections to many acquiring banks, which helps maximize payment authorizations, BlueSnap said.
