Bahrain’s BMI Bank Supporting Card Repayments At Its ATMs

BMI Bank B.S.C. last week rolled out a service that enables its credit cardholders to pay their card bills at the issuer’s ATMs, the Bahrain-based bank announced Nov. 10.

Cardholders also may use the machines to deposit cash into their savings accounts, a service that previously was not available, a customer-service representative tells PaymentsSource.

ATMs deployed in about eight high-volume branches will accept the card payments initially, giving tellers more time to handle more-complicated tasks, he says. The repayment service is free.

BMI cardholders also may pay their card bills online using the online banking portal, the executive says. But the service is accessible only with a debit card, necessitating the need for the ATM repayment facility because not all credit cardholders may hold savings accounts at the bank.

BMI issues Visa-branded credit cards in gold and silver variants. It also issues Diner’s Club cards.
