Alipay Financial Services’ Hong Kong unit is collaborating with McDonald’s, enabling consumers to order and pay for items at the fast-food chain within the AlipayHK wallet.
A growing number of restaurants in Hong Kong are adopting AlipayHK, and adding McDonald’s significantly expands the wallet’s reach in the region, Alipay said in a Thursday press release.
McDonald’s is supporting the new wallet-ordering capabilities with promotions and rewards, according to the release.
“AlipayHK e-wallet is available within the McDonald’s apps for mobile ordering and payment, along with paying with credit cards and cash,” said Randy Lai, CEO of McDonald’s, Hong Kong, in the release.
“AlipayHK hopes the initiative will help spearhead and incentivize more restaurants to engage in digital transformation in the food and beverage sector,” said Jennifer Tan, CEO of Alipay Payment Services HK Limited, in the release.
