ACI adds in-store digital payments via RevChip, TranSend deals

ACI Worldwide has added new digital in-store payment capabilities for merchants as an upgrade to its current real-time, cloud-based payments software.

The omnichannel capabilities broaden ACI's Universal Payments Merchant Payments solution to allow more control, flexibility and security as merchants move more services to the cloud and allow consumers to use mobile devices to interact with point-of-sale hardware.

The upgrade comes as a result of ACI's acquisition of technology from providers and long-time partners RevChip and TranSend, which both focus on next-generation payment applications and management platforms.

“The move to the cloud provides merchants with challenges as well as opportunities ... in order to reap those opportunities, merchants require a technology platform that delivers agnostic control, scalability and security as well as integrated payments and fraud capabilities,” Sanjay Gupta, executive vice president at ACI Worldwide, said in a Monday press release. “The powerful technology assets we are announcing today allow ACI to deliver merchants an unmatched next-generation in-store digital payment experience."

Naples, Fla.-based ACI says it is focused on mobile-first omnichannel payments and their integration between point-of-sale applications, payments software and terminals. ACI’s UP Merchant Payments solution is designed to integrate these systems to reduce IT footprint and complexity in the store.

The financial details of the RevChip and TranSend asset acquisition were not disclosed in the press release, though ACI noted the acquisition is not expected to impact company finances in 2019.
