When it comes to shaping the future of payments innovation under a second Trump Administration, new data from American Banker found that past and present payment technology executives could lead the charge.

Research concluded that more than 70% of payments leaders saw current and former tech leaders in the industry as key changemakers in the Trump administration when it comes to future innovation efforts. Roughly 30% predict that executives will be hands-on in those talks, with an additional 43% favoring more of an advisory role in regulatory matters

Just over a quarter of respondents said payment tech experts will have little to no bearing on the path of innovation going forward.
