Wells Fargo said today that Secil Watson has been named head of wholesale internet solutions. Bank Technology News selected Watson as Innovator of the Year in 2009 for her work on improving online and mobile banking and developing new payments applications.
In today's move, Watson is being moved from the consumer side to the corporate side of the bank. "Secil has led innovation and growth of our consumer internet and mobile channels for nearly a decade," said Danny Peltz, executive vice president and head of Treasury Management at Wells Fargo, in a statement. "Her leadership, expertise, and insight will keep our commercial and corporate channel at the industry's forefront, deliver innovative new solutions, and enhance our customers' experience."
In her new role, Watson will guide strategic direction for the Commercial Electronic Office CEO portal, which provides online access to more than 80 applications, including cash management, credit and loans, foreign exchange, global payments, health benefit services, insurance, trade services, trust, investment, and retirement services. She also will be responsible for CEO Mobile service, which allows customers to monitor their accounts and perform critical tasks from anywhere using Web-enabled mobile devices.
Watson joined Wells Fargo in 2002. She served nine years as senior vice president in the Internet Services Group, managing online and mobile payments, fraud prevention, authentication, customer experience and insights, payment and fraud operations. Under her leadership, active mobile channel customers grew to more than 7 million, and online banking customers reached 19.7 million.
