U.S. Bank has hired Derek White, a veteran of BBVA and Barclays, as chief digital officer and put him in charge of the Minneapolis bank's newly consolidated digital team.
White was most recently global head of client solutions with BBVA in Spain, where he led a team of nearly 10,000 employees focused on designing, creating and launching
U.S. Bank has not had a chief digital officer up to now. In September, the bank announced that it would be creating such a role and that it was starting a search for the right person to fill it.
White will report to Chairman and CEO Andy Cecere and be a member of the company’s managing committee.

In consolidating its digital efforts, U.S. Bank has made White responsible for its entire digital strategy, including innovation, digital products, development and omnichannel delivery. His team will drive digital strategy across all of U.S. Bank’s lines of business as well as current and future partnerships, the company said in a news release Monday.
