U.S. Bank announced Thursday that it's launching Mitek's (MITK) Mobile Photo Bill Pay service to its retail customers.

"We continue to leverage the capabilities of smartphones, and use innovative ways of making banking more convenient for our customers," said Niti Badarinath, U.S. Bank's senior vice president in charge of its mobile banking channel, in a press release. "U.S. Bank customers were among the first in the nation to be able to use their mobile device to deposit checks. Now, we've made it really easy for our customers to enroll and use BillPay, add billers and pay bills whenever and wherever they choose."
This deal represents more than a new feature for U.S. Bank (USB), it's significant for Mitek.
The bank technology vendor has signed up roughly 564 banks for its mobile check deposit software. Those banks include the top 10 in the U.S.
