A former vice president of direct-to-consumer and innovation program management for Warner Bros. Digital has joined Union Bank as its head of digital banking.
Julie Demarigny is responsible for leading digital strategies for Union Bank and expanding the overall digital banking business, focusing on the online and mobile digital experience. Demarigny is based in the Union Bank office in Glendale, Calif., and reports to Pierre P. Habis, Union’s head of consumer banking.
Union Bank, based in San Francisco, is part of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, a $2.7 trillion company in Tokyo.
“Throughout our search for a head of digital banking, we intentionally sought candidates with a deep understanding of both the digital economy and also how to lead with a client-first mindset,” Habis said in a press release. “Julie excels at both. She has championed the same kind of internal disruption we’re looking to make at MUFG Union Bank, and I’m confident she can help us strengthen the overall digital experience for our clients.”
For the past seven years at Warner Bros., Demarigny was responsible for the global development of consumer-facing digital activities across all divisions, as well as online and mobile strategy and business development. Before that, she was executive director of digital distribution for France and Southern Europe at Warner Bros. She has also served as vice president of digital business for Sony Music.
Demarigny began her career in France at 3Suisses where she produced its first French e-commerce website, managed 3Suisses Musique/Nova label and created the Cyberbus, a traveling event designed to promote the internet in France.
Demarigny is a guest lecturer at UCLA Anderson School of Business where she teaches digital marketing to MBA students. She also taught multimedia project management and digital marketing to graduate students at La Sorbonne University in France for 12 years. She holds a master’s degree in new technologies and social impact and a bachelor’s degree in hypermedia, both attained at the University of Vincennes in Saint-Denis.
“It's a huge privilege to be working in the digital space at such an incredibly exciting point in time both at Union Bank and for the industry at large,” Demarigny said in the release. “Digital has radically transformed the financial and banking sectors. The next few years will be a time of accelerated digital transformation delivering incredible opportunities and benefits. I look forward to delivering these opportunities and benefits across Union Bank by putting our clients at the center of the digital experience.”
