Rockville Bank Appoints Virtual Banking Executive

Rockville Bank in Rockville, Conn., has hired veteran online banking executive Donna Patel to the newly created position of senior vice president of virtual banking.

Patel will develop, manage and oversee all of Rockville Bank's virtual banking services, according to the company's Tuesday press release. Her responsibilities also include supervising the bank's website, ATMs and customer support center.

Patel joins Rockville from Bank of America (BAC), where she was senior vice president, online and mobile product executive. Her role at the Charlotte, N.C. company involved directing strategy for online banking and other digital products and creating a digital customer service strategy.

Her resume also includes a 10-year stint at Wells Fargo (WFC)/Wachovia, where she served as senior vice president, consumer online banking executive.

"What made coming to Connecticut and being a part of the Rockville Bank Team so appealing was Rockville's vision and commitment to growing its virtual banking capability," Patel said in the release. "Rockville is known for providing superior customer service and that means as our customers' banking habits change, we must continue to stay ahead of the curve in providing the most convenient, customer-focused options they require."

The $2.2 billion-asset Rockville is a subsidiary of Rockville Financial (RCKB). It has 22 branches throughout Connecticut.
