Retailer, Bank Groups Set Up Cybersecurity Intel Sharing Portal

Retailers and bankers are teaming up to improve the flow of information regarding cybersecurity.

The Retail Cyber Intelligence Sharing Center has formed a new intelligence sharing portal under the umbrella of its Retail Information Sharing Analysis Center. The Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center will oversee the new portal on the retail group's behalf.

The R-CISC Intelligence Sharing Portal, as it will be called, will be used to allow retailers to share cybersecurity intelligence within their community. Government agencies and law enforcement will also have access to the portal in order to provide businesses with important intelligence.

"The R-CISC portal will substantially increase the efficacy of the information sharing already underway by contextualizing, prioritizing and cataloging the information shared between retailers, other industries and law enforcement," said R-CISC executive director Brian Engle in a March 24 news release announcing the portal.

FS-ISAC president and CEO Bill Nelson added in the release that the financial services group also stands to benefit from the relationship as it will help FS-ISAC explore the potential for intra-sector and cross-sector sharing.

R-CISC said in the press release that beyond just establishing the portal the relationship between the two information-oriented groups will allow for future advancements, such as the use of the Soltra Edge cyberdefense system and other technologies.
