Pershing LLC, a Jersey City unit of Bank of New York Mellon Corp., said Thursday that it had hired Steve Dunlap to be a managing director and chief operating officer of its managed account solutions division.

Mr. Dunlap is to be responsible for the division's operations and technology. He was president of Finetre Corp., a software solutions unit of Atlanta's Ebix Inc. Previously, he was an executive vice president at Thomson Financial Inc.
Pershing's managed account solutions unit offers products and services to broker-dealer firms, investment professionals, and independent registered investment advisers.
