Old National (Ind.) Plans to Close 23 More Branches

Old National Bancorp in Evansville, Ind., plans another round of branch consolidations as it integrates the failed Integra Bank.

The $8 billion-asset Old National said it would close four former Integra branches in Indiana in October. Those branches have lost employees through attrition, and the remaining employees will shift to nearby Old National branches.

On Dec. 9, it will shutter 19 branches in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky, including one Old National branch. The company will spend the next 90 days determining staffing needs at the branches that will absorb their customers; increased traffic and attrition at the consolidated branches could provide job openings, the bank said in a press release.

It has hired career advisors and is offering scholarships to employees who want to learn new skills.

The July acquisition of the $2.2 billion-asset Integra Bank, also in Evansville, Ind., from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has largely been viewed as an opportunity for Old National to slash expenses since the banks operated in the same markets.

Old National announced last month that it would close nine branches — five in Evansville, three in Kentucky and one in Illinois.
