Ocwen Financial (OCN) in Atlanta has hired a mortgage industry veteran to fill a new position for government and community relations.
Jill Showell, who will be based in Washington, will serve as the mortgage servicer's senior vice president for government and community relations, Ocwen said Thursday. Showell has more than 25 years of experience in public policy, government relations and consumer outreach.
"Ocwen recognizes the critical role that our regulators and lawmakers play in addressing the nation's mortgage crisis," Paul Koches, Ocwen's executive vice president and general counsel, said in a press release. Showell's "deep experience at the intersection of public policy, communities and mortgage finance will be instrumental as our servicing business expands and as we continue to develop solutions for homeowners and investors.
Showell most recently served as the vice president for government relations at mortgage insurer PMI Group. She joined PMI in 2004 to establish and manage its relationships with Congress, regulators, consumer advocacy groups and major housing trade associations. Prior to that, she was the head of government and Congressional relations at Freddie Mac for 12 years, and her background also includes a stint at a legislature director for the Mortgage Bankers Association.
