The Arlington, Tex., health-care staffing company Nursefinders Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. are offering a payroll card that can provide daily salary payments for temporary health workers.
JPMorgan Chase, which provides payroll cards to more than 40 staffing agencies, said Tuesday that Nursefinders is the first to offer daily payments to workers. Users also can have payments deposited on the card, which runs on Visa Inc.'s network, on a weekly, bimonthly, or monthly basis.
Payments can be routed on to a Chase Payroll Card two hours after an employee submits an approved time card.
Nursefinders began testing the cards in Fort Worth in September and is now offering them at 55 of its offices. The agency said more than 5,000 of the cards have been activated.
There is no fee to register for the card or to make purchases with it. The card can be used for free at JPMorgan Chase automated teller machines and at ATMs on the PLUS, Allpoint, or Visa networks.
Sandi Johnson, Nursefinders' payroll manager, said in a press release that offering its workers payroll cards has reduced processing costs. Many employees "who were receiving payment via direct deposit even switched to the card as it gave them faster access to cash."
