MoneyGram International Inc. said Wednesday that it would begin offering money orders, remittances, and bill payment services at stores operated by the payday lender Advance America, Cash Advance Centers Inc.
The MoneyGram products and services will be available at all of Advance America's 2,800 locations in North America.
Ken Compton, Advance America's chief executive, said in a press release that the deal would help diversify its business line. "We are always looking for ways to meet the needs of our customers, and MoneyGram will help us do that."
In addition to payday loans, Advance America sells a prepaid Visa Inc. card and tax preparation services.
