Tracey Weber, Bank Technology News'
Her position head of the North America Internet and Mobile and Global Product team will be filled by Melissa Stevens, a 15-year veteran of the bank.
Weber came to Citi from the retail world, having been president of the North America region of Travelocity and an executive vice president at Barnes & Noble. She came among a wave of high-level hires of digital and retail experts from outside the banking industry that included Michele Peluso, the former CEO of Travelocity who left Citi for Gilt in December, and Frank Eliason, director global social media at Citi, who previously had been director of digital care at Comcast.
Weber brought energy, enthusiasm and a customer-first mindset to the job. In one of her first projects at Citi, her team created one of the first-ever iPad banking apps, Citibank for iPad. Also on Weber's watch, Citi launched an Amazon Kindle Fire app and a new smartphone platform, in addition to delivering mobile remote deposit capture and person-to-person payment capabilities. These innovations and Weber's close attention to customer feedback and keen eye for customer-friendly design led BTN editors to select her as top mobile banker for 2012.
In January of this year, after Forrester Research declared Citi's online banking site the best in the U.S., Weber told BTN, "We're feeling good, but there's always more to do."
Weber's replacement, Melissa Stevens, has held roles across Citi's Global Consumer businesses and in Citigroup's Corporate Center. In her most recent role, she was the global digital banking program director and head of global internet product management with a global team located in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Mexico.
