Mitek Systems Inc. said Thursday that it has developed a version of its remote deposit software to run on Apple Inc.'s iPhone.
The San Diego banking technology vendor already offers its ImageNet Mobile Deposit application that lets people use other mobile phone models to take pictures of their checks and transmit them to a bank for deposit. It said last month that it is working on a version for Research In Motion Ltd.'s BlackBerry devices.
Mitek said that some customers might be willing to pay a fee to make deposits using a mobile phone. "iPhone users are a very tech-savvy group who understand the value of mobile banking and will benefit from the convenience," James DeBello, the company's president and chief executive, said in a press release.
