Maryland Bank Selects Chief Risk Officer

Community Bank of Tri-County in Waldorf, Md., has named a new chief risk officer.

James Burke, already its executive vice president and chief credit officer, will add the chief-risk title, the bank said Wednesday. Burke will be responsible for its risk-management efforts and credit quality, and he will be management's liaison with the enterprise risk management committee of the board of directors.

Burke has worked for Bank of Tri-County since 2005. Previously he was executive vice president and senior loan officer at Mercantile Southern Maryland Bank in Leonardtown. A spokeswoman for Community Bank of Tri-County was not immediately available for further details.

"We created the enterprise risk management committee to reinforce our commitment to the strategic growth of our organization that enables long-term success," President Bill Pasenelli said in a press release. "[Burke] is a natural fit to lead this team and be a risk management resource for our directors."

Community Bank of Tri-County has $978 million in assets and 11 branches in Maryland and Virginia.
