MainStreet Bank Sets Up Donation Site for Tornado Victims

MainStreet Bank (MNSB) in Fairfax, Va., is offering Oklahoma banks serving communities affected by this week’s tornadoes access to a service that makes it easier to accept donations.

The $270 million-asset bank is offering community banks free access to its Aircharity service, which lets customers or institutions open an account and receive donations through many forms of payment, including credit and debit cards, electronic checks and social media, it said Wednesday.

MainStreet has also established an Aircharity account for the Red Cross, through which people can donate to help the tornado victims.

"So many communities and people were devastated by the tornado, and our hearts go out to them," said MainStreet Chairman and Chief Executive Jeff Dick in the news release. "We'll set up the individual accounts at no cost to the community banks or their customers, and work with the community banks to get the funds to their account holders seamlessly."

In November, MainStreet established an Aircharity account to assist Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
